identity campaigning

George Marshall

I have over 20 years experience in environmental campaigning and communications including extensive work within both the grassroots direct action movement and the NGO sector. I’m the founder and programme director of the Climate Outreach Information Network which has specialised in providing climate change communications and public speaking trainings and engagement projects with new audiences. COIN currently has two major engagement projects: working with the human rights and refugee sector, and a DEFRA funded programme to engage the 1 million+ membership of four trades unions in pro-environmental behaviours. In all its programmes COIN uses non-prescriptive action learning techniques, peer to peer communicators and close partnerships to develop new styles, approaches and language.

I’m also author of Carbon Detox - a mass market book that encourages people to rethink their approach to climate change and personal action, and I write a blog, Climate Denial, which explores psychological responses to climate change - a topic on which I regularly speak and write for national media.
